Allegiant Adds Three Orlando Sanford Routes for Spring 2027

Boston, Providence and Grand Forks service will join a nine-route expansion concentrated on Florida leisure markets.

Allegiant Air will add nonstop service from Orlando Sanford (SFB) to Boston Logan (BOS), Providence (PVD) and Grand Forks (GFK) in February 2027, reinforcing its largest Florida operation during the peak spring travel period.

The three SFB additions form part of a nine-route expansion announced by Allegiant. Seven of the nine services will operate for roughly 10 weeks, illustrating the carrier’s willingness to deploy aircraft for narrow demand windows rather than maintain marginal routes throughout the year.

Although SFB is central to the announcement, Allegiant is not adding all nine routes there. Three serve Sanford, while the remaining six connect Cincinnati, Boston, Providence and Portsmouth with other Florida airports.

Three Routes Join Allegiant’s Sanford Network

Grand Forks-SFB will begin February 10, 2027, and operate through April 17. Allegiant described the route as seasonal rather than hyper-seasonal, giving it a slightly longer operating window than the Boston and Providence services. The airline initially offered one-way fares from $69.

Boston-SFB will begin February 13 and run through April 24. Providence-SFB starts the same day and continues through April 25. Allegiant classifies both as hyper-seasonal routes designed around spring breaks and other concentrated leisure-travel periods.

The airport has independently listed Boston, Providence and Grand Forks among its forthcoming destinations, confirming the February start dates.

The Boston and Providence additions give Allegiant two New England entry points into the Orlando market. BOS offers the larger local passenger base, while PVD draws from Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and nearby parts of Connecticut. Operating both for a limited season allows Allegiant to test distinct catchment areas without committing aircraft through lower-demand portions of the year.

Grand Forks follows a more familiar Allegiant pattern: linking a smaller northern market directly with a major warm-weather destination during winter and early spring. The route will bypass the connecting itineraries that dominate the Grand Forks-Orlando market outside limited nonstop operations.

Florida Dominates the Nine-Route Package

The rest of the expansion is spread across six routes, all involving Florida. Allegiant will launch year-round service between Cincinnati (CVG) and Orlando International (MCO) on February 12, 2027. It is the only route in the announcement planned for continuous operation.

Boston will also gain seasonal Allegiant flights to Punta Gorda (PGD) and St. Pete-Clearwater (PIE). Both start February 13 and run through April 24. Together with SFB, they give Boston travelers three alternatives across central and southwest Florida during the spring peak.

The carrier is building a similar group from Providence. Flights from PVD to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Sarasota (SRQ) will operate from February 13 through April 24, alongside the Sanford route. The network design spreads Providence capacity among South Florida, the Gulf Coast and the Orlando area rather than concentrating all flying at one destination.

The ninth route will connect Portsmouth (PSM) with FLL from February 20 through May 1. That service has the latest start and end dates in the package.

Allegiant had already announced Boston-FLL service beginning in October 2026 as part of an earlier eight-route Florida expansion. The three spring additions from BOS therefore broaden a developing Boston operation rather than establish the airport as an entirely new station.

Short Seasons Fit Allegiant’s Capacity Model

The unusually tight operating periods are more significant than the number of routes. Boston-SFB, for example, is scheduled only from mid-February to late April. Allegiant can place capacity into the market when northern-origin demand for Florida is strongest, then withdraw it before the slower late-spring shoulder period.

That approach is consistent with the company’s description of its model. In its second-quarter 2026 regulatory filing, Allegiant said it expands and contracts capacity around seasonal leisure demand and manages peak-period aircraft utilization according to the demand environment.

The routes will draw from Allegiant Air’s narrowbody fleet, although the carrier has not assigned individual aircraft types publicly. At June 30, 2026, the Allegiant operation had 77 Airbus A320s, 28 Airbus A319s and 19 Boeing 737-8200s in service.

The Airbus A319 carries 156 passengers, while Allegiant’s A320s are configured with 177 or 180 seats. Its Boeing 737-8200 seats 190. Those dense configurations suit routes with sharply concentrated leisure demand, particularly when frequencies remain below daily service. The airline is gradually replacing older Airbus aircraft as additional 737-8200s arrive, with 25 Boeing jets expected in service by the end of 2026.

SFB handled more than three million passengers during its 2025 fiscal year, according to the Sanford Airport Authority, which has described Allegiant’s operation there as its primary hub. The latest routes deepen that relationship while preserving the airline’s ability to move capacity among multiple Florida airports as seasonal demand shifts.

Bottom Line

Orlando Sanford gains the clearest benefit from the expansion: three additional northern markets during a period when Central Florida demand can support dense, low-frequency leisure flying. Boston and Providence also widen SFB’s reach in New England, while Grand Forks restores the kind of small-market winter link on which Allegiant built much of its network.

The broader package shows Allegiant treating Florida as a portfolio rather than a single destination. Boston receives access to SFB, PGD and PIE, while Providence is divided among SFB, FLL and SRQ. That gives the airline several distinct demand pools and limits its exposure to the performance of any one airport pair.

The routes to watch are Boston-SFB and Providence-SFB. Their nearly identical operating windows create a direct test of two neighboring New England catchment areas. Strong results could support repeat spring seasons or longer schedules, while weaker performance would allow Allegiant to redeploy the aircraft with little year-round network disruption.
