Sourcing Policy

How FlyMag sources its reporting

Primary sources

  • Airline schedules and filings — Public timetables, schedule change filings, and airline press releases.
  • Airport operations — Airport press releases, monthly operations reports, and official statements.
  • Regulatory filings — DOT (U.S.), CAA (UK), EASA, and equivalent civil aviation authorities.
  • Direct communications — On- and off-the-record conversations with airline, airport, and industry sources.

Data providers we use

  • Aviationstack — Live flight status, schedules, and airline/airport reference data.
  • LogoStream Aviation API — Airline and airport route stats, hub relationships, network coverage.
  • Open-Meteo — Weather data for trip planning tools.

When a specific claim in a story relies on one of these providers, we identify the provider inline in the article.

Photography

FlyMag articles use aviation photography sourced from:

  • Our sister site AirlinePics.com, where photographers are credited.
  • Airline and airport press image libraries, credited to the operator.
  • Wikimedia Commons content licensed under Creative Commons, credited per license terms.
  • Original FlyMag photography by staff.

AI-assisted content

Some FlyMag features use AI tools in their production pipeline:

  • AI-generated text — Our Travel Concierge (currently in soft-launch and set to noindex) generates trip itineraries using OpenAI’s models grounded in live web search. AI-generated pages are labeled and excluded from the search index.
  • AI-drafted news — News articles on FlyMag are written by human authors. If an AI tool is used in drafting or research for a specific story, it is disclosed in the article.
  • AI-assisted data enrichment — Some directory pages (airport intros, aircraft descriptions) include auto-generated summary paragraphs derived from structured data. These are labeled as auto-generated where present.
  • Prohibited use — FlyMag does not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, or generate images of real people or events without disclosure.
