Air Canada Launches Seasonal Toronto-Rio de Janeiro Service

Air Canada has officially inaugurated nonstop flights between Toronto and Rio de Janeiro, adding a new seasonal link between Canada and one of Brazil’s most iconic coastal cities. The first flight touched down in Rio this morning, following a gate-side ceremony at Toronto Pearson International Airport to celebrate the launch.

The new service operates three times weekly from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and is scheduled to run through the end of March 2026, aligning with the busy southern summer and shoulder season in Brazil.

The timing gives Canadian travelers a convenient escape to warmer weather, beaches, and Rio’s famous cultural attractions, while also providing Brazilian travelers with a direct connection to Canada.

Onboard experience: Signature Class to Economy

Air Canada is deploying its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route, offering three cabin classes and a modern long-haul experience:

  • Signature Class: Lie-flat seats, premium dining, and elevated service for business and high-end leisure travelers

  • Premium Economy: Wider seats, extra legroom, and enhanced meals and amenities

  • Economy Class: Standard seating with personal entertainment screens and access to the full Dreamliner cabin experience

Strengthening Canada–Brazil connectivity

While the route is currently seasonal, it meaningfully strengthens connectivity between Canada and Brazil by adding another nonstop option to a major Brazilian leisure and business destination.
