Vietjet Expands India and Australia Connections with New Routes and Increased Frequency

Vietjet, one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing budget airlines, is significantly expanding its operations with new routes connecting India and Australia. As part of its growing international footprint, the carrier will introduce direct flights between Danang (DAD) and Ahmedabad (AMD) on October 23, 2024, followed by increased service between Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Perth (PER), beginning October 27, 2024. This expansion highlights Vietjet’s strategic move to meet the increasing demand for travel between Southeast Asia, India, and Australia.

New Direct Flights Between Danang and Ahmedabad

Vietjet will begin operating a direct service from Danang (DAD), a popular Vietnamese tourist hub, to Ahmedabad (AMD) in India. This new route reflects the growing travel demand between India and Vietnam, driven by both business and leisure travelers. Ahmedabad is a key economic hub in India, while Danang is known for its beaches and historic sites, making the route attractive for both sides.

The service will operate three times a week using Vietjet’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, which offers 230 seats in an all-economy configuration. The A321neo is well-suited for medium-haul flights, combining fuel efficiency with passenger comfort. This new route is expected to boost tourism and trade between India and Vietnam, two markets that have seen increasing connectivity in recent years.

Increased Frequency on Ho Chi Minh City to Perth Route

In response to rising demand, Vietjet is also increasing the frequency of its Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Perth (PER) route from two flights per week to four times weekly starting October 27, 2024. Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is a key destination for both Vietnamese expatriates and Australian tourists exploring Southeast Asia.

The route will be serviced by Vietjet’s Airbus A321 aircraft, which features modern amenities and an efficient design for medium-haul travel. With the increased frequency, passengers will have more flexibility in their travel plans, making it easier to connect between Vietnam and Australia.

Strategic Growth for Vietjet

Vietjet’s continued expansion is a strategic effort to strengthen its presence in key international markets, particularly in India and Australia. As the demand for air travel surges post-pandemic, the airline is positioning itself to offer more direct connections and better services for travelers in these regions. Both India and Australia have become increasingly important markets for Vietjet, and the airline’s low-cost model makes it an attractive option for both leisure and business travelers.

The new Danang-Ahmedabad route and the increased frequency of Ho Chi Minh City-Perth flights are expected to drive both inbound and outbound tourism while supporting business ties between these countries.

Bottom line

With new routes and increased service frequencies, Vietjet is making bold moves to connect Vietnam, India, and Australia. The new direct flights between Danang and Ahmedabad and the expanded Ho Chi Minh City-Perth service will provide travelers with more options and flexibility. As Vietjet continues to grow its international network, passengers can look forward to more competitive pricing and efficient travel experiences across Asia-Pacific.
