EasyJet has unveiled a new direct route connecting Edinburgh, Scotland, to Zurich, Switzerland, further strengthening its European network. The new year-round service is set to commence on May 2, 2025, and will operate twice weekly, offering passengers enhanced connectivity between these two major cities.

The Edinburgh-Zurich route will operate on Mondays and Fridays, making it an ideal option for both business and leisure travelers. The flights will be conducted on EasyJet’s Airbus A320 family aircraft, known for their efficiency and comfort, with a seating capacity of 186 passengers.
Flights from Edinburgh (EDI) to Zurich (ZRH) are scheduled to depart at 6:30 p.m. local time, arriving in Zurich at 9:35 p.m. The return flight will leave Zurich at 10:20 p.m. and land in Edinburgh at 11:30 p.m., ensuring convenience for travelers planning weekend getaways or short business trips.
Strategic Expansion in Scotland
This announcement comes as part of EasyJet’s broader expansion at Edinburgh Airport, where the airline plans to base a tenth Airbus A320 aircraft. The additional aircraft will support new and existing routes, further solidifying EasyJet’s position as one of Scotland’s leading carriers.
In 2023, EasyJet carried a record 8.2 million passengers across Scotland, reflecting a strong demand for its affordable, no-frills service. The airline has also introduced routes from Edinburgh to Olbia, Dusseldorf, Marrakech, and Enfidha, alongside new Glasgow-based services to Antalya and Reus.
Ali Gayward, EasyJet’s UK Country Manager, stated:
“We are delighted to announce this new route between Edinburgh and Zurich, providing our Scottish customers with more direct connections to Europe. Zurich is a fantastic destination for both business and leisure travelers, and we’re proud to continue our investment in Scotland.”
Boosting Connectivity and Tourism
The new route is expected to enhance tourism and business ties between Scotland and Switzerland. Zurich, as a financial hub and gateway to the Swiss Alps, offers significant appeal to travelers from Scotland, while Edinburgh’s cultural heritage and festivals are likely to attract Swiss visitors.
EasyJet’s competitive fares and convenient schedules are anticipated to further stimulate demand, contributing to economic growth in both regions.
Looking Ahead
Tickets for the Edinburgh-Zurich route are already available for booking on EasyJet’s website, with one-way fares starting at £39.99. The airline’s expanded Scottish operations underscore its commitment to providing passengers with affordable and reliable travel options to key European destinations.
As EasyJet continues to grow its network, the new route to Zurich marks another milestone in its efforts to connect Scotland to more of Europe’s top destinations.
