Smartwings Adds Prague-Lisbon As Winter Network From Prague Keeps Growing
Smartwings is adding another scheduled route from Prague Airport (PRG) for the 2026/27 winter season.
The Czech carrier will launch nonstop flights from Prague (PRG) to Lisbon Airport (LIS) on October 23, 2026.
The route will operate three times per week. Flights are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Lisbon (LIS) becomes another important Portuguese point in the Smartwings network. For the winter schedule, the airline says it will offer Portugal flights to Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO), Funchal (FNC) in Madeira, and Ponta Delgada (PDL) in the Azores.
Lisbon Adds A Major European Capital
The new Prague (PRG)–Lisbon (LIS) route gives Czech travelers a direct link to one of Western Europe’s most popular city-break markets.
Lisbon is also more than a leisure destination. It is a major business, tourism, and connecting gateway on the Atlantic edge of Europe.
For Smartwings, the route makes sense.
Portugal has become a stronger market from Prague (PRG). Smartwings already serves Porto (OPO), Madeira (FNC), and the Azores (PDL). Adding Lisbon (LIS) gives the airline a broader Portuguese network.
It also gives passengers a nonstop option without connecting through Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Paris (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), Madrid (MAD), or another European hub.
Three Weekly Flights From October
Smartwings will begin the Lisbon route on October 23.
The airline plans three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
That schedule works well for both leisure and short-stay business travel. It also supports long weekends in either direction.
The airline says one-way fares start at €116. That fare includes full-size cabin baggage.
This is important for Smartwings. The carrier competes in a market where passengers often compare base fares, luggage rules, and total trip cost.
Porto, Bilbao, And Toulouse Get More Flights
Lisbon is not the only change.
From the end of October, Smartwings will also increase flights from Prague (PRG) to Porto Airport (OPO), Bilbao Airport (BIO), and Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS).
Each route will move from two weekly flights to three weekly flights.
That is a small but useful increase.
A third weekly flight can make a route much easier to sell. It gives passengers more choice and helps the airline reach travelers who need better timing.
For business and city-break markets, frequency matters. A route that operates only twice weekly can feel limited. Three weekly flights make the service more practical.
Nice Becomes A Year-Round Route
Smartwings will also keep Prague (PRG)–Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) in the schedule all year.
Until now, the route was mainly a summer operation.
For winter 2026/27, Nice (NCE) will operate three times per week.
That gives Smartwings another year-round Western European market from Prague. It also gives Czech travelers better winter access to the French Riviera and the wider Côte d’Azur region.
The move suggests that demand to Nice is no longer limited to peak summer.
Smartwings Is Building A Larger Scheduled Network
Smartwings is best known for leisure and charter flying. But its scheduled network from Prague has grown.
For winter 2026/27, the airline says it will operate direct flights from Czech airports to 39 destinations.
That is a broad winter program for a carrier based in a medium-sized European market.
The expansion includes both classic leisure destinations and major European cities. Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO), Bilbao (BIO), Toulouse (TLS), and Nice (NCE) all fit that strategy.
They are not only beach markets. They also support tourism, business travel, visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic, and weekend breaks.
Aircraft Type Has Not Been Listed
Smartwings has not named the aircraft type for the new Lisbon (LIS) service.
However, the route fits the carrier’s short- and medium-haul fleet.
Smartwings operates aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8. The airline lists the 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 with common layouts of 189 economy seats or 18 business-class seats and 150 economy seats.
Those aircraft are well suited to Prague (PRG)–Lisbon (LIS).
The route is long enough to need efficient narrowbody economics. But it does not require a widebody or a larger long-haul aircraft.
A Stronger Position In Portugal
Portugal is becoming a larger part of the Smartwings network.
Lisbon (LIS) gives the airline a direct route to the country’s capital. Porto (OPO) adds northern Portugal. Funchal (FNC) serves Madeira. Ponta Delgada (PDL) gives Smartwings access to the Azores.
That gives the airline a varied Portuguese offering.
It can target city-break travelers, island holidaymakers, and passengers visiting friends or family.
It also gives Smartwings a stronger position against airlines that already connect Prague with Portugal through major hubs.
Why This Matters For Prague
The expansion is also useful for Prague Airport (PRG).
Prague has been working to rebuild and expand its direct route network. More nonstop European routes help the airport compete with nearby hubs and reduce the need for Czech travelers to connect elsewhere.
Lisbon (LIS) is a valuable addition because it is a major capital city and a strong leisure market.
More flights to Porto (OPO), Bilbao (BIO), Toulouse (TLS), and Nice (NCE) also add depth to Prague’s Western European schedule.
For passengers, the benefit is simple: more nonstop choices from Prague.
Bottom Line
Smartwings will launch nonstop Prague (PRG)–Lisbon (LIS) flights on October 23, 2026.
The route will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Lisbon joins Smartwings’ Portuguese network alongside Porto (OPO), Funchal (FNC), and Ponta Delgada (PDL).
The airline is also increasing Prague flights to Porto (OPO), Bilbao (BIO), and Toulouse (TLS) from two to three weekly services. Nice (NCE) will become a year-round route with three weekly flights.
For Smartwings, this is a focused winter expansion. It strengthens the airline’s scheduled network from Prague (PRG) and gives Czech travelers more direct access to key European destinations.
The new Lisbon route is the headline. But the broader message is just as important: Smartwings is continuing to build a more useful year-round European network from its home market.
