American Airlines Adds New Summer 2026 Europe Routes – Including Budapest & Prague

American Airlines will expand its transatlantic network in summer 2026, adding five new seasonal Europe routes — including returns to Budapest and Prague — plus extra flights to existing destinations.

Three New Routes to Existing Cities
The airline will also add:

Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) – Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH) (seasonal)
All new flights go on sale August 11, 2025.
Tokyo Capacity Boost
American will also increase premium seating on its Tokyo Haneda (HND) flights from Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles, up to 45% more premium seats by swapping Boeing 787-9s for aircraft with larger business and premium economy cabins.
Why the Modest Growth?
American remains capacity-constrained due to slow deliveries of new aircraft. While the carrier will receive some new premium 787-9s, the much-anticipated A321XLRs remain delayed, limiting further expansion opportunities.
“Customers continue to tell us that Europe is where they want to go each summer,” said Brian Znotins, SVP of Network and Schedule Planning. “We’re excited to grow our network to new destinations like Prague and Budapest.”
Bottom Line
American’s summer 2026 expansion is measured but notable, marking its return to Budapest and Prague and adding seasonal DFW–Athens and DFW–Zurich flights, plus restoring MIA–Milan service. With aircraft deliveries lagging, don’t expect major surprises — but Europe remains a key summer focus for the airline.
