American Airlines has unveiled plans to expand its domestic network with three new regional routes, while also making adjustments to its international services. These strategic changes aim to enhance connectivity and optimize the airline’s route offerings.
New Regional Routes
Starting in 2025, American Airlines will introduce the following regional routes:
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Bismarck Municipal Airport (BIS): Daily flights commencing on June 5, 2025.
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Boise Airport (BOI): Daily flights beginning June 5, 2025.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Appleton International Airport (ATW): Saturday-only service starting February 15, 2025.
All three routes will be operated by American Eagle affiliate Envoy Air using Embraer E175 regional jets. The Phoenix to Appleton route, spanning approximately 1,463 miles, will be one of the longest operated by a regional affiliate, with an estimated flight duration of 3.5 hours.
International Service Adjustment
In addition to the new regional routes, American Airlines has announced the discontinuation of its service between Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN). The airline cited underperformance as the primary reason for this decision. The final flight on this route is scheduled for March 31, 2025.
