interCaribbean Expands Tortola Hub With New Barbados And St. Maarten Nonstops
interCaribbean Airways is adding new nonstop connectivity from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, announcing fresh service to Barbados and St. Maarten beginning March 8, 2026. The expansion strengthens the carrier’s Tortola operation and improves north–south connectivity across the Caribbean.
New Service Details
The airline will operate seven flights per week between Tortola (EIS) and Barbados (BGI).
-
Four weekly flights will operate nonstop between Tortola and Barbados.
-
Three additional weekly flights will operate via St. Maarten (SXM), which also creates nonstop Tortola–St. Maarten service.
This structure is designed to add frequency on the Tortola–Barbados corridor while also increasing options for travelers needing access to St. Maarten.
What The Routes Add For Caribbean Connectivity
By expanding from Tortola, interCaribbean is positioning the British Virgin Islands as a practical connecting point between the Northern Caribbean and the Southern Caribbean.
For Tortola-based travelers, the Barbados service adds easier access to onward travel options in the region, including connections to destinations such as Guyana, Grenada, St. Lucia, Trinidad, and St. Vincent. Meanwhile, travelers originating in Barbados and other southern markets gain improved routing options to the northern Caribbean through Tortola and St. Maarten.
Airline Strategy And Fleet Support
interCaribbean Chairman Lyndon Gardiner said expanding nonstop options from Tortola has been a priority, describing the additions as a way to improve access to the carrier’s broader Caribbean network while reinforcing its long-term commitment to the British Virgin Islands.
The airline says the expansion is supported by a growing fleet that now includes 11 ATR turboprop aircraft, which it plans to leverage for higher frequency flying and broader regional coverage.
Bottom Line
With new flights launching March 8, 2026, interCaribbean is building out Tortola as a stronger regional hub by adding Barbados and St. Maarten connectivity. The schedule combines four weekly nonstop Tortola–Barbados flights with three weekly one-stop services via St. Maarten, increasing both reach and frequency for travelers moving between the northern and southern Caribbean.
