Free Starlink Wi-Fi Is Coming To Emirates
Emirates is rolling out free, high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi across its long-haul fleet. The service will be gate-to-gate and available in all cabins with one-click access—no paywall, no loyalty login.
Which Aircraft Are First
Retrofits have started on Boeing 777-300ERs. A380 installations begin February 2026. The newer A350-900s will be fitted as that fleet grows. Hardware fit varies by type: two antennas on each 777, three on each A380 to keep speeds up on full flights.
The Retrofit Pace
Emirates plans to modify ~14 aircraft per month, bundling connectivity work with its broader cabin refresh program (Premium Economy rollout plus refreshed Business/First and IFE). The goal: more than 200 widebodies live with Starlink, creating the world’s largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet.
What Travelers Will Notice
Expect stable, high-bandwidth connections that can handle HD streaming, video calls, cloud apps, and gaming, even on remote oceanic legs. Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit network cuts latency dramatically versus legacy systems, so everyday tasks feel more like home internet.
Why It Matters
-
Consistency: One experience for everyone on board, not a patchwork of pay tiers.
-
Productivity: Reliable VPNs and collaboration tools for business travelers.
-
Choice: Use Emirates’ ICE for movies—or stream your own without compromise.
Rollout Milestones
-
First Starlink passenger flight: November 23, 2025 (post-Dubai Airshow) on a 777-300ER.
-
Fleet coverage: Ramps through 2026 as 777 and A380 mods run in parallel.
Bottom Line
Emirates is making inflight Wi-Fi simple: fast, free, and frictionless. With Starlink arriving on 200+ A380s, 777s, and A350s, staying connected on Emirates will feel a lot more like staying connected at home—no hoops, no hassle.
