Air Canada just leveled up the back of the plane: complimentary beer and wine are now standard for all Economy customers on every Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express (Jazz) flight—including routes to Mexico and the Caribbean. The perk quietly launched Sept. 1, 2025.
What you’ll get for free
-
Beer & wine: Complimentary across the system (served responsibly and only to those of legal drinking age).
-
Non-alcoholic beer: Heineken 0.0 joins the cart—making Air Canada the only North American airline pouring NA beer onboard at no charge.
-
Snacks: Canada-forward nibbles now included:
-
Morning flights (before 10 a.m.): MadeGood Mornings Cinnamon Bun Soft Baked Oat Bars, plus returning favorites TWIGZ Craft Pretzels and Leclerc Celebration Cookies.
-
Toronto–Billy Bishop (YTZ) flights after 10:30 a.m.: Greenhouse Ginger Defence Wellness Shots—an energizing add-on you normally see in premium snack baskets.
-
More choice from the Air Canada Bistro (for purchase)
If you want to go beyond the freebies, the refreshed Bistro menu adds more Canadian-made options: Summer Fresh Hummus & Crackers, Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cups, TWIGZ Sour Cream & Onion Pretzels, and Smarties.
Why Air Canada is doing this
The carrier says it’s “elevating the onboard experience” for all customers and sharpening its focus on leisure travelers. The free beer/wine + Canadian snack push complements other recent upgrades:
-
A revamped mobile app
-
Expanded in-flight entertainment
-
Refreshed and new Maple Leaf Lounges
-
Smoother airport processes
-
A best-in-class Aeroplan program
-
And notably, fast, free Wi-Fi (sponsored by Bell) for Aeroplan Members on flights within North America and to/from “Sun” destinations (Mexico & the Caribbean)
Small print to know
-
Applies to flights with beverage service operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express (Jazz).
-
Subject to availability; service standards can vary by flight length and time of day.
-
Alcohol is served only to customers of legal drinking age.
Bottom Line
Free drinks and better snacks make Economy feel less… economy. Add in complimentary NA beer (a rare inflight option) and free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan Members on many leisure routes, and Air Canada’s value proposition just got stronger—especially for sun-seekers headed to Mexico or the Caribbean and anyone who loves a little Canadian flavor at 35,000 feet.
