Editorial Standards
Our editorial mission
FlyMag exists to produce accurate, useful, and specific aviation reporting — with a focus on airline routes, airport operations, aircraft fleets, and the operational realities of commercial air travel. We aim to serve travelers, industry professionals, and aviation enthusiasts with reporting that adds analysis and context, not just a rewrite of a press release.
Independence
FlyMag is independently owned and operated. Editorial decisions — what we cover, what we don’t, and how we cover it — are made without input from airlines, airports, advertisers, or affiliates. When an author has a personal or financial relationship with a subject of coverage, it is disclosed in the article.
Accuracy standards
- Every factual claim in a FlyMag story is either directly verifiable or attributed to a named source.
- Numerical claims (route counts, seat counts, aircraft counts, capacity figures) are sourced from primary data — airline schedules, official filings, airport publications, or established aviation data providers.
- When we rely on a single data provider, we identify it inline.
- When a claim is a projection or estimate, we say so explicitly.
- Dates, times, and flight numbers are cross-checked against operator schedules whenever practical.
Anonymous sources
FlyMag prefers on-the-record sources. When an anonymous source is used, we identify their position or relationship to the subject (e.g. “an executive at the airline”) and explain why anonymity was granted. We do not use anonymous sources for information that could be sourced on the record.
Bylines and accountability
Every FlyMag article carries a byline linked to an author profile page listing the writer’s background, expertise, and contact information. Multi-author work is credited by contribution.
