interCaribbean Airways Expands Caribbean Network with Grenada-Georgetown Route

interCaribbean Airways is continuing its network expansion by launching a new non-stop route between Grenada and Georgetown, Guyana. This new service, set to begin on December 1, 2024, will operate twice weekly and is expected to improve connectivity between the Eastern Caribbean and South America.

Route Details

The flights will depart from Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND) in Grenada at 12:20 PM on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (GEO) in Georgetown at 1:50 PM. The return flight will leave Georgetown at 2:35 PM, arriving back in Grenada at 4:10 PM.

This new route will be operated by interCaribbean’s Embraer ERJ 145 jets, which offer seating for up to 50 passengers. The ERJ 145 is well-suited for regional routes like this one, offering a comfortable cabin experience and efficient service between the two popular Caribbean and South American destinations.

Boosting Regional Connectivity

The addition of this new route aligns with interCaribbean Airways’ mission to enhance connectivity throughout the Caribbean and neighboring regions. By connecting Grenada with Georgetown, the airline is creating more travel options for both business travelers and tourists who wish to explore the cultural and economic opportunities between these regions.

The Eastern Caribbean has long been a vital hub for travel to various South American destinations, and this new route is expected to strengthen ties between the two regions by offering more direct travel options. Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, is a growing business hub and an emerging destination for eco-tourism, making this a valuable addition to interCaribbean’s network.

Bottom line

The new Grenada-Georgetown route is a significant milestone for interCaribbean Airways as it continues to expand its regional presence. With the introduction of this twice-weekly service, passengers can now enjoy easier access between the Caribbean and South America, enhancing both leisure and business travel options in the region.
