Salam Air Adds Damascus: Twice-Weekly Muscat Service

Salam Air will introduce a new nonstop route between Muscat (MCT) and Damascus (DAM), marking the airline’s first service to Syria and positioning it as the first Omani carrier to operate the route. Flights are scheduled to begin May 2, 2026.

Why This Route Matters

Salam Air says the route is designed to meet demand from the Syrian community living in Oman, while also strengthening the airline’s regional footprint. The carrier’s chief commercial officer, Steven Allen, described the Damascus launch as a “strategic and commercially driven” move aimed at addressing clear travel needs between the two countries.

Growth Strategy And Fleet Plans

Salam Air currently operates a fleet of 15 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft and plans to expand to 25 aircraft by 2028. The airline says it operates up to 80 flights per day and serves 38 destinations, with further network growth planned for 2026.
