In a bold move to support its expanding operations and strengthen its workforce, Lufthansa Group has announced plans to recruit approximately 10,000 employees in 2025. The hiring spree will span across its various subsidiaries and departments, with a significant focus on enhancing operational, technical, and customer-facing roles.
A Comprehensive Recruitment Drive
The recruitment initiative aims to fill positions across multiple areas, including:
- Flight Operations: More than 2,000 new flight attendants will join the group, supporting Lufthansa’s core airline operations and improving onboard service.
- Ground Services: Approximately 1,400 roles will be created for ground operations staff, focusing on baggage handling, airport logistics, and passenger support.
- Technical Experts: With a growing fleet and complex maintenance demands, 1,300 positions will be allocated to technical staff, including engineers and mechanics.
- Administrative Staff: Over 1,200 roles will be added in administrative functions, contributing to the smooth running of the group’s various business units.
- New Pilots: Lufthansa will onboard 800 new pilots to meet the increasing demand for flight services across its network.
Subsidiaries and Regional Focus
The recruitment effort will extend beyond Lufthansa Airlines, involving subsidiaries such as Lufthansa Technik, Austrian Airlines, and Eurowings, which plan to hire around 700 employees each. The majority of the new positions—more than 5,000—will be based in Germany, reflecting Lufthansa’s commitment to its home market.
Despite an ongoing efficiency program that has streamlined operations, the group’s flagship carrier, Lufthansa Airlines, will hire about 1,200 people this year, slightly fewer than in 2024.
Meeting Growing Demand and Operational Goals
This recruitment drive comes as Lufthansa Group prepares for increased travel demand in 2025 and beyond. The airline industry is rebounding from pandemic-related setbacks, and Lufthansa aims to position itself as a leader in delivering exceptional service and operational reliability.
In 2024, Lufthansa hired over 13,000 employees from a pool of 350,000 applications, underscoring the group’s attractiveness as an employer in the competitive aviation market.
Strategic Investments in Talent
Lufthansa Group’s focus on hiring highlights its strategy to invest in its workforce to drive growth and maintain high standards of customer service. The addition of thousands of new employees will not only address operational needs but also support the group’s broader goals of innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the aviation sector.
